  1. THE IMPORTANCE OF HEALING AND RECOVERY

A.   Luke 10:18-19

1)   You have authority over all power of the enemy. You can escape situations that you have been in for a very long time.

2)   Hurt is the most elaborate way to stop the believer. Satan doesn’t have to do anything. The hurt positions you to put things in motion to stop yourself.

3)   Don’t focus on Satan. Focus on the fact that God gave you power.

4)   When you receive the power and take authority, Satan falls. You take authority by pleading the blood of Jesus over the following areas:

1)   Mind

2) Will

3) Emotions

4)   Health

5)  Family

6)   Future

7)   Finances

8)   Church

5) There is nothing Satan can do to you that you don’t have an
answer for.

B.   Healing is essential to recovery.

1) Typically, people tend to jump to rebuilding before dealing with healing.

2)   Although you have the opportunity to be hurt, you don’t have to receive it.

3) Healing is essential in order to go where you want to go in life.

  1. THE OUTCOMES OF REMAINING IN HURT

A.   When you are heart is hurt, it will trigger emotions that will keep you stagnant.

B.   When you are hurt, you go against things you once believed and your morale will be low.

C.  When you are hurt, life doesn’t become better. Satan remains lord of your life and you give him your heart to produce
the hurt.

D.  When you are hurt, you feel like you have to do everything and everything has to be right.

E.   When you are hurt, you are not doing things God’s way. You will feel like you have the right to do wrong.

F.   When you are hurt, self preservation will be present and you will not be able to help others.

  1. HOW DOES DISAPPOINTMENT AFFECT HOPE?

A.  Proverbs 13:12

1)   In order to not be hurt, remove your hope from being in people.

2)   When you are hopeless, you don’t believe anything anymore.

3)   In order to remain hopeful, keep your heart full of what God will do for you.

4)   Hope must be present for things to get better.

5)   When you are disappointed, hope dwindles.

B.   Disappointment is the vehicle to hurt. You must deal with and address the hurt.

C.  Running away doesn’t allow you to deal with disappointments. It is better to talk to the person that disappointed you or simply get rid of the disappointment altogether.

D.  Whatever you are expecting, receive it from God. If it doesn’t happen in the natural, it will not take your hope in the
wrong direction.

  1. THE MINDSET THAT LEADS TO HEALING
    1. Proverbs 23:7

1)  Hurt causes disagreement and causes you to think differently.

2)   When you think it is the end, hurt begins.

3)   Don’t allow hurt to fill your capacity. When your heart is clean, God will fulfill it.

    1. Controlling your mind and keeping it in a state where you let God in will keep hurt out.
    2. Do positive and fun things that keep your mind right, clear and on the right track.
    3. When you are whole, the following will take place:

1)   You will release things from your heart.

2)   You will forget about your past.

3)   You will forgive yourself.

4)   You will have the mental capacity to receive from God.

5)  You will allow people to heal the way they would agree to be healed and accept their consequences. Staying with hurt people too long ruins your future moments.

    1. Isaiah 26:3

1)   Keep your mind continuously on God.

2)   Healing is a part of what has to be present to remain whole.

  1. THE IMPORTANCE OF GUARDING YOUR HEART AGAINST HURT

A. Proverbs 4:23. Guard your heart diligently.

B. Matthew 12:34. Guarding your heart means to watch over your mouth,

1)    Do not give voice to the hurt you are incurring.

2)   Speak what you desire to be and not what you are experiencing.

C.  It is important to live without accepting hurt. You can do this in the following ways:

1) Be ready to forgive despite what someone did to you. This will cause you to become loaded with forgiveness, mercy, favor and grace.

2)  Be slow to anger.

3)   Reflect on how God has forgiven you.

4)   Look for situations to mend and spend less time with people who desire to remain in unforgiveness.

5)   Live with no regrets

6)   Look for ways to restore hope through good deeds.

D.  When you are targeted, the purpose is to change your heart, view, people and places. Keep in mind that whatever is in
your heart flows in your life.

  1. DEVELOPING IN THE LOVE OF GOD
    1. When you develop in the love of God, you will become immune to hurt.
    2. Develop an outlook that people are not hurting you. It is a result of the following areas:

1)   When negative actions take place, recognize that there were unaddressed things that happened in that person’s childhood. This produces certain tendencies, ethics, morals, behaviors and foolish desires.

2)   It is not a personal attack. Recognize that the person didn’t do it to you. Instead, they did it to God.

3)   Fix it with God first before fixing it with people. This will cause you not to be disappointed.

    1. Isaiah 54:17. The scripture doesn’t state that weapons wouldn’t be formed. It just won’t work against you. It doesn’t mater how deep your trouble is because God will get you out.
    2. Do not allow people who devalue you to determine your value.
    3. Do everything necessary to keep your heart pure.

  1. THE RESULTS OF PROSPERING
    IN YOUR SOUL

    1. 3 John 2. It is important to prosper in your soul.
    2. Your private life is the number one necessity towards getting things right in your life. Prospering in your soul becomes your primary checkpoint.
    3. When you are whole, your thoughts are pure and like God’s thoughts. You respond how God would respond on a particular situation.
    4. When you experience the right things, it will help you to have healthy emotions and receive it by faith.

  1. BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF
    OVERCOMING HURTFUL SITUATIONS

    1. Genesis 37:22-39.
      Joseph in the pit

Joseph’s brothers put him in the pit. His brothers couldn’t prosper because of their evil hearts. Their hatred escalated to find more ways to do more harm to Joseph. Joseph’s brother thought he was only worthy of being in a pit. However, merchantmen found him worthy of a price. Joseph addressed his hurt while he was in the pit.

When you keep your heart right, God will find a way to get you out of that trouble. Joseph began to see goodness coming his way and God never allowed any physical harm to come his way. The hatred of Joseph’s brother placed him where he needed to be. At the end, Joseph became ruler over Egypt.

    1. Luke 15:14. Parable of the lost son.

The son wasted his inheritance in reckless and loose living. When he spent all that he had, there was a famine in the land. He joined himself to a citizen of that country who sent him in the field to feed hogs. Nobody helped him and he eventually came to himself. He understood that he didn’t belong out there and decided to go back to his father’s house where he lived royal.

It is important to understand that things become better when you allow people to come to themselves. They will learn the lessons necessary not to repeat mistakes and become advocates to help others.

    1. Esther (Chapters 1-10)

People tried to ruin her from the beginning. If you keep your heart right, God will send someone to help you. Your part is to remove all of your hurt and speak to the hurt that is speaking to you.
