Week 4: The Image Of A Man

Genesis 1:26 (KJV)-  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Image is defined as a reproduction or imitation of the form of a person or thing. In today’s culture, these meanings are especially true for men, Image and appearance have become the primary focus for many who will do anything to create it, maintain it and keep up with it. Usually, a man’s foundational image is built upon the strong influence of social media, family traditions, reality television and ever-changing trends. However, what happens when the image that was built is not the most desired by God? As a man, your true image derives from God because He created you. The first clause of Genesis 1:26 (KJV) states, And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. You are His love expression and His spokesperson to multitudes of people.

Manhood is not simply an age. It is at its full maturity when you obey the word of God. You were made to have dominion and absolute control over your environment at all times. As you submit to God’s plan and purpose for your life, your influence is sure to increase and cause others to be different. Since your image is not based on perfection you are free to trust God and His love for you.

God wants you to have a relationship with Him first. Since failure cannot stop you, look forward to a life full of satisfaction. Remember, you are with a God that can handle everything. So, continue to believe for bigger things, remain bold and exert your faith.

Inhabit God’s image and reign!
